Behind the Design: Dual Stream Deck 32 Enclosure with Raspberry Pi & Ethernet

Every now and then, a request comes in that sparks a whole new idea.

This time, it started with a Companion user who wanted to run two Stream Deck 32 modules side by side — powered by a Raspberry Pi — all inside one clean, compact enclosure.

That single question turned into what became the Dual Stream Deck 32 Enclosure with Raspberry Pi & Ethernet, a custom-designed housing built for AV professionals, broadcast engineers, and control room setups that rely on the Bitfocus Companion app.

The challenge

Running multiple Stream Decks often means dealing with messy cables, adapters, and power solutions scattered across the desk.

The goal was simple: create a single hub that keeps everything together, integrates with a Raspberry Pi, and offers a reliable Ethernet connection for Companion.

It had to look clean, feel sturdy, and be practical enough for daily use in production environments — from flypacks to control rooms.

The solution

The enclosure holds two Stream Deck 32 modules and a Raspberry Pi in one tight layout.

On the back, a D-size Ethernet connector keeps your network wiring professional and secure.

The front features magnetic covers that don’t just protect the modules — they double as organizer trays for accessories or even as a small iPhone stand during downtime.

When not in use, they help keep the desk clean and visually balanced.

Every angle, magnet placement, and connector recess was tested for fit, airflow, and usability.

The design balances functionality, durability, and that subtle “intentional design” look that defines most 3D Request gear.

Why Companion?

Bitfocus Companion has become a standard in professional control environments, linking hardware like Stream Decks to broadcast routers, switchers, and lighting systems.

Building an enclosure that supports Companion users was a natural step — it’s where creativity meets integration.

The Raspberry Pi makes it fully self-contained: no extra PC, no loose USB cables, just one network cable straight to your control system.

Made for makers

Like most 3D Request projects, this design came from a mix of community feedback, curiosity, and iteration.

The result isn’t just a product — it’s a small contribution to the growing ecosystem of makers building smarter, cleaner control setups.

If you’ve built your own Companion rig or multi-Deck setup, I’d love to hear what challenges you ran into and what worked best for you.
